Residents across Gateshead are being asked to capture their neighbours as part of a borough-wide competition.The ‘Who’s your neighbour?’ photography competition forms part of the company’s support for today’s (Tuesday, 27 May) European Neighbours Day, which aims to bring communities together across the borough.The competition, open to any of the company’s tenants and leaseholders, aims to encourage people to speak to neighbours, find out something new about them, take a picture that captures it, and submit to be judged in June.The seven categories are:* Neighbour’s childhood memories* A neighbour’s favourite place* My neighbour – the recycler* The good neighbour* Neighbours at work* My neighbour’s hobbies and leisure* Neighbour’s memories and experiences of Gateshead.Each category has prizes for photographers under 13, those aged 14 to 19 and then for 20 year olds and over.Prizes of £25 MetroCentre vouchers will be awarded for each category in each age group, with a prize of £100 of MetroCentre vouchers given to the overall winner.The competition closes on Monday, 16 June, with prizes being given on Friday, 27 June at Saltwell Towers in Saltwell Park, where entries will also be displayed.To find out more or to upload photographs go to www.gateshead.gov.uk/People%20and%20Living/contest.aspx
