How much planning was involved? Did you go out with an idea of the kind of shot you wanted?
When I began to shoot street photography I often plan before I going out. Such as fishing(waiting subject to come in the scene), result seems a bit boring because I found it similar to a photo I used to see before. Nowaday I never planing just walk observe something ordinary and try transform it to extraordinary.
Can you tell us a little more about the image?
As I said, I never planed. This trip I wanted to go and get some rare Pokemon in Ishinomaki city (They make event for help people who affected from tsunami in 2011) and go to take streetphoto around Sendai next. Suddenly the earthquake in middle of the night and in the morning I got phone from my mom that my lovely dog died in Bangkok . I decided to change destination to Tokyo. I used the walk as meditation to forget those bad news, then I finally found this shot outside a coffee shop.I first shot a man and he aware of me. So I changed the subject to a woman who sitting next to him and when I try to composition framing I observe some connection.
What do you like about the picture?
I love the connection between woman’s hair which blending with the tree leaf in the window reflection ,her eye contact and color matching of women’s scarf with a girl behind.
Did you do much to it in post-processing?
Look like multiple exposure shot? No. All I do is adjust some brightness and contrast.
You could see the sequences in contact sheet here. ( Sorry for a lot of photos because I use 24fps in mark5)
