Fujifilm launches 2011 Student Awards
The Fujifilm Student Awards 2011 is now open for entries. This year’s Award is run in conjunction with ChooseFilm.com, the online community dedicated to film photography.
The theme for this year’s Award is ‘Senses’ with students being briefed to capture an image that encapsulates at least one of the five senses – sight, hearing, smell, taste and touch. All images must be taken on Fujifilm Professional film and submitted via http://www.fujifilmstudentawards.co.uk – entry is free and students can enter as many photographs as they wish. The closing date for entries is 28 February 2011.
In addition to being named Fujifilm Student Photographer of the Year 2011 the winner will also be presented with £200 worth of Fujifilm, a trophy plus a professional quality portfolio by Genesis Imaging, together with a 20″x16” Clamshell Portfolio box. The printing will be supervised by Genesis Imaging’s Creative Director, Mark Foxwell, who will also mentor the winner for a period of one year. The winner will also receive a PR package from the promoter of the awards, WPS Media.
Up to 30 Merit winner will receive 10 rolls of Fujicolor professional colour negative film. Each Merit winner will be asked to submit a print for final judging. The college or university that submits the most entries will win £200 worth of Fujifilm Professional film.
Fujifilm Professional’s product manager, Gabriel Da Costa, commented on the Awards: “The Fujifilm Student Awards are a major part of the curriculum for many colleges, and tutors right across Britain see the Awards as pivotal to their students’ education. I’m very grateful to Burton College who helped create the brief for this year. Many of the winners from the previous 25 years have gone on to enjoy successful careers as professional photographers.”
