Capture Safari Competition Winner Announced!
After a good few months and some amazing entries, the winner of the Capture Safari competition can finally be announced!
DP and Captures Safaris would like to congratulate Andrew Scriven on winning the coveted Capture Safari’s wildlife competition. The incredible £6000 prize was awarded to Andrew for his stunning shot of a humpback whale as it broke the surface of the water. Selected from over 1000 entries, Andrew’s image was chosen for its incredible subject matter, shooting technique and creative composition.
Here’s Andrew’s account of how he got the prize-winning shot,
“I was sailing in the Antarctic Ocean. Approaching from the stern, the humpback whale swam slowly to the surface alongside me. The water was so clear I was able to watch it from some depth. It brushed the surface, taking in a breath and a view of the ship before slowly and effortlessly descending back down into the depths and darkness. I held my breath and took the photograph. It was a magical moment. The polarizing filter and wake from our ship helped create the beautiful effect seen on the water.”
About the Prize
Andrew will get the chance to choose one of these three amazing seven-day Capture Safaris tours:
- Birds, Beast & Feast Trip to Ruaha/Selous
- Big Cats of the Serengeti
- Calving Season in the Serengeti
Each tour combines the experience of an African safari with expert photography tuition from a pro photographer. Andrew will also have an experienced tour guide on hand to help him explore the landscape and track the game, ensuring he’s always in an ideal position for capturing the best shots throughout the safari.
After a day’s shooting, he’ll rest up in some of the best camps and lodges, for a touch of luxury making a much more memorable experience. Workshops will also be held each evening in-camp so he can share his shots with fellow travellers and learn new tricks to try out the next day.
Congratulations again to Andrew and well done to everyone else who got involved and entered the competition – there were so many amazing entries!
