First look review Ricoh CX4
First look impressions of the new Ricoh CX4.
The CX series from Ricoh have proved to be very popular compact cameras and have performed at consistently high levels on most aspects. On first impressions the Ricoh CX4 matches these standards and even has a few improvements. Firstly the 10x optical zoom is quick to engage and zoom into the subject matter. This was something the CX2 and CX3 struggled with so it is good to see the optics are up to scratch. In lowlight the CX4 does have a few problems with focusing and finds it difficult to source the point however in the daylight it was a different story and the focus is very quick and images can be snapped and processed speedily.
Disappointingly the DR (dynamic range) mode has been eliminated from the top dial and situated in the scene menu file, which is harder to source. Most other features are in the same order and the main menu is easy to navigate. Overall the CX4 appears to be a top compact and Ricoh are moving the series a step forward with this model.
