Nikon D4S announced – UPDATED
A new flagship, full frame model from Nikon has been revealed.
Nikon has announced a new flagship DSLR, the D4S.
It’s a 16.2-megapixel model that pushes the boundaries with an ISO range of 100–25600 that can be extended to what Nikon is describing as “an industry-leading” ISO 409600.
It can also shoot at 11fps and features a 51-point AF system that’s sensitive to -2EV. The AF system also boasts a new Group Area AF mode, which constantly monitors five different AF fields that can be shifted across the 51-point array depending on the situation. With this in mind, the camera is pitched towards press, sports and nature photography.
As you’d expect, it’s fully weather-sealed.
Other highlights include a 921k-dot LCD monitor that’s colour adjustable, a shutter mechanism that’s rated to 400,000 actuations and spot white balance metering, the D4S is built for the professional.
The camera is expected to retail from 6th March at a body only price of £5,199.99/€6,199.00
We’re looking forward to testing the Nikon D4S, so look out for a review in Digital Photographer very soon!
