Now in its third year, Nikon UK and NME are pleased to present the NME Music Photography Awards with Nikon exhibition at the famous Getty Images Gallery from 7th November – 1st December 2012.

The best images from this year’s music photography competition will feature in the exhibition. There were five categories for amateur photographers, which were Live, Portrait, Festivals, Reportage and Under 21s, with a sixth category for professional photographers.

Jeremy Gilbert, Group Marketing Manager, at Nikon UK says: “Nikon is committed to raising the profile of photography and is incredibly excited to be working with NME and the Getty Images Gallery to exhibit these images to the public which we hope will inspire and encourage photographers to capture their passion for music.”

Winners in the amateur categories will receive a Nikon 1 camera kit, while there will be a D800 DSLR kit for the winner of the professional category. Each of the category winners will also get to meet NME’s Picture Editor and experience a photography master class with an NME photographer. The best two will then be chosen to shoot a gig for NME and one eventual winner will get to shadow an NME photographer.

Rob Hunt, Head of Creative Media Men and Music says: “This is the third year we have worked with Nikon on the NME Photography Awards. By taking the exhibition to the Getty Images Gallery this year, we will be able to showcase some of the great moments our audience have captured on grander scale.”

An Outstanding Contribution to music photography award will be awarded to a legendary professional photographer who has captured iconic moments and documented some of the most famous bands in UK history.

All winners will be announced in NME magazine, issue 27th October 2012.
