Introducing the Smeek
Dating back to the early 1960’s, the all-plastic Diana camera is a cult legend – famous for its dreamy and lo-fi images, super-saturated colours, unpredictable blurring, and random contrast.
In autumn 2007, the Lomographic Society launched the Diana+ http://microsites.lomography.com/diana/ – their first re-creation of the 1960s classic. The body was re-cast using a duplication of the original mould. The lens was balanced to obtain those “perfectly imperfect” gorgeous, colour-drenched, sometimes-blurry, and often-mind-blowing images.
Then at the beginning of 2008 Lomography built upon this classic to create the Diana F+, adding a retro-styled electronic Diana Flash, which fires a burst of white or coloured light at your subject. http://microsites.lomography.com/diana/products/diana-f-plus.
The Diana family just keeps growing throughout 2009 with the introduction of the Diana Mini http://microsites.lomography.com/dianamini/ and now the Diana F+ CMYK (amazingly, it’s pronounced ‘smeek’) http://microsites.lomography.com/diana/products/clones
The ‘Smeek’ is part of an ever-growing and wildly creative family of Diana Clones http://microsites.lomography.com/diana/products/clones that includes the ‘Meg’ by the White Stripes, ‘Mr. Pink’, ‘Glow in the Dark’ Special Edition and, more recently, Qing Hua by Dorothy Tang.
Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black – the four most important colours in offset printing. This standard colour model has splashed its way onto their new ultra-bright clone – the Diana F+ CMYK Edition! It’s bound to catch everyone’s attention! Super – easy to see in your bag and grab for those all-important ‘capture the planet’ moments!
