I’ve sumitted an image to the wildlife category before i read about the entry date, do I re-submit it or will it stll be counted as an entry.. sorry!
Please tell me how do I enter Photographer of 2011 competition? How do I mke a gallery?
Regards,
Subir
Hi Subir,
To make a DP gallery go to this link – http://www.dphotographer.co.uk/signup
Once you have signed up you can start uploading your images to your gallery. It will give you the option to enter the image into the awards at the uploading stage. If you have any problems let me know
Claire
Hi, are the entrees voted on? if so how can people vote??
Hi Kirsty,
The DPOTY awards are judged by an expert panel of photographers and industry leaders. If you pick up the latest copy of Digital Photographer (issue 111) there is a list of them.
Thanks,
Claire
Still no response… to my above question. ^^
Hi Dave, So sorry about the late response. You will need to resubmit the image when the wildlife catagory opens which is from 06/10/11 – 17/11/11.
Thanks, Claire
Ok Thanks very much Claire!
Hello,
I have read the terms and conditions for Digital Photographer of the Year but am unsure of this part:
Images that have already been awarded a prize in a national or international competition or been used for commercial purposes are not eligible.
Some of my photos I hope to submit will be featuring in a magazine, but I won’t be paid or anything. It’s just to show my work. Will I be able to enter those photos?
Lou
Hi, Perhaps Im being stupid but I have uploaded an image to a gallery but how do I know if that is entered into the comp’? or is there a seperate way of entering??
Regards
Jeremy
Hi, I guess colour-popping is out ? An image I had in mind is overall monochrome, but with one element in colour. Many Thanks,
Peter
( Great Mag!)
Hallo,
Is the contest only for UK citizens or may people from elsewhere in Europe also enter?
Regards
Fred
Also how much is 23cm in pixels? My Camera outputs it’s largest file at 2608 pixels wide.
And how does one enter. There is no upload facility anywhere that I can see for entering a particular category.
Regards
Fred
Ok I found the answer to one of my questions. I found out how to upload and enter.
All my other questions are still valid.
Sincere regards
Fred
Hi, I have the same question as someone else, which has yet to be answered:
“Some of my photos I hope to submit will be featuring in a magazine, but I won’t be paid or anything. It’s just to show my work. Will I be able to enter those photos?”
Would love to know the answer to this

This system doesn’t seem to work very well. I can’t see which images I’ve already submitted to the competition so I don’t know how many I have left in each category. I’d also like to see what I’ve entered so I can choose other images that compliment or are different from the others I’ve already entered. I might want to enter other images that I have already uploaded to my gallery but I can’t see if they have already been entered and there doesn’t seem to be any way to enter a photo that has already been uploaded. Must I upload it again? How do I check what I have already entered? If I start all over again from the beginning, choose my 3 photos in each category and just email them over in one go, will I be disqualified because I have already entered some online and therefore will have exceeded the maximum number of entries?
In short, can you please sort this system out please?
Hi there,
It’s not mentioned in the ‘Entries” to which email we should send.
Thanks,
Ali
Bella, at the moment you can only enter the landscape category, the opening and closing dates for each category are above.
To enter a photo that’s already in your gallery, select the photo, click on edit and you’ll see the option to enter the photo on POTY 2011 about halfway down.
To enter an image either:
1) Select an image in your gallery and go to Edit and use the awards box to enter it.
OR
2) Email your THREE pictures for the category to awards@dphotographer.co.uk
* Please refer to category dates below
* Only include photos from a single category in your email (i.e do not combine landscapes and portraits in one email)
* Image size – keep a high resolution original, but resize your images so they fit in an email
* Full T&C’s here http://news.dphotographer.co.uk/dpoty-terms-and-conditions/
* If you have submitted an image into a another competition and it was awarded a prize, then you can not enter it into this competition.

Any chance of answering my questions? See my posts above. Thank you.
Fred,
The answer to one of your questions is in the post above, to answer you other question, 23cm at 300dpi is 2717 pixels
hope that helps
Justin
Hello.
For the landscape category I have a (3-shot) stitched image where I had to do some small corrections to compensate for some misalignment in the stitching. Mainly just cloning in photoshop. Does this violate the contest rules?
Thanks.
Justin but my camera (Olympus E-1) has a maximum resolution is 2608×1950 pixels. Does this mean my entries will be disqualified?
Regards
Fred

Hi Fred, I don’t think they’ll be disqualified at this stage (obviously I dont work for the mag so Im presuming!) but if you get shortlisted you’ll need to interpolate (enlarge) any images in photoshop to the required size, not normally something Id recommend but it’s only a small jump from 2608 to 2717 so image quality shouldn’t be overly affected. If you get shortlisted and need any help with that drop me an email (if you click my name above it’ll take you to my website)
cheers
Justin
I would love to put in an entry but every time I click on ‘Enter Now’ I come back to where I started. If you are expecting me to subscribe to your email it is a waste of time as i subscribe to the magazine anyway. This website is a mess.
Hi, I have entered an image into the wildlife category but am unsure if it went in ok, is there anyway to view all uploaded images in a particular category if so how? site does not seem very user friendly, or am I just being thick?
