The British Heart Foundation has recently launched its first annual photography competition. The theme of the contest is Red for Heart. There are lots of fantastic prizes to be won and winners will be announced in February and showcased as part of the National Heart Month.

The Brief

The colour red must be incorporated into your photo(s), but you don’t necessarily have to feature hearts. Think about heart as a theme and what that means to you. Beyond this, the brief is open to your interpretation. So get snapping!

The Prizes

Winners and a choice of finalist images will launch National Heart Month in February 2010 with an exhibition at the Merlin Entertainments London Eye. And that’s not all! A selection of the winners will also feature in the Independent on Sunday newspaper and all winners will receive a range of fantastic prizes.

The deadline for entries is 6 January 2010.

All funds raised from the competition will go towards the Red for Heart campaign – raising vital funds to help continue life-saving work.
