Artists Donate 50 Pieces of Art to Raise Funds for UK's Oldest Photography Festival

Over 40 artists from across the globe have this month donated works of art to help raise funds for the UK’s longest running photography festival.

Renowned photographers such as Martin Parr, John Bulmer, Shelby Lee Adams, Simon Roberts, and KayLynn Deveney have all donated time, money and artwork to both a digital and live auction which aim to raise funds for the highly popular Hereford Photography Festival (HPF).

All proceeds from the auction will go directly to supporting future HPF commissions and exhibitions, strengthening and growing the month long festival which last year saw over 99,000 visitors. The festival is one of the UK’s largest photography festivals, featuring 40 exhibitions from 75 artists. Highlights of the festival include an exhibition at Hereford Museum and Art Gallery, co-curated by Simon Bainbridge, Editor of The British Journal of Photography entitled ‘Time & Motion studies: New documentary photography beyond the decisive moment’.

“The Photography Festival is such an important part of rural Herefordshire’s cultural landscape and I’m happy to support it by donating my work for their auction” John Bulmer

The lots will be displayed online from Monday 26th September and then made available for viewing at London’s prestigious Hotshoe Gallery from Tuesday 4th October, when the general public will be invited to view the items until the live auction which takes place at the gallery on Friday 7th October.

Sir Roy Strong, Patron of the Hereford Photography Festival said: “As a committee supporter of this festival, it was exciting to hear that there is to be an auction of work by some of the really outstanding photographers who have contributed to its success. The proceeds will go towards supporting its future in what are challenging times.”
