Adrian Hollister launches 2010 Desk Diary

DP reader and photography enthusiast Adrian Hollister has produced a stunning Photobook/Desk-Diary ‘Scotland 2010′ with motivational foreword from doyen of landscape photography – Joe Cornish.

“This photobook/desk-diary had its genesis in the calendars I have produced annually for family and friends. Looking back, some were pretty awful productions, and I cringe at some of the images!” Confides Adrian. “Wanting a more professional calendar, I had a conversation with Eddie Ephraums. We bounced ideas around for a few weeks: “how about a book?”…”that sounds like a major challenge”…”doesn’t have to be hundreds of pages”.. “but I want something I can put new images on annually”…”what about a desk-diary”…”can we hide the calendar pages so it could be used as a book”…”what about the subject, can we have a theme”…”could we include some text”…”why not sell it”. These conversations have never stopped, but after months of design, image selection, colour management, researching and writing about Scotland, printing in China (yes – the boat from China is slow), taking it around bookshops, deciding on pricing and so on, the self-published photobook/desk-diary, complete with a foreword by Joe Cornish, is on the market – Scotland 2010. The end result is very different from what I had originally envisaged. The process has changed my photography, whilst also giving it a reason and focus. I am now producing images for the 2011 version!”

    Dear Adrian Hollister,
I bought a copy of your photodiary with a view to giving it away as a Christmas present but kept putting it back in the cupboard in the hope that the right person for this beautiful work would not turn up. Dear reader, he did – having said that he was absolutely delighted with the book. So now I must buy another copy.
The photographs are a total delight, the arrangement of folding pages , spaces to write, calendar for whatever notations, all of these are clever and unusual.
Congratulations. If I can’t find the book in my local shop I will order a copy, through them or yourself.
    Thanks again.

    HAPPY NEW YEAR
I think that a calendar of the more conventional style with your photographs would sell well but I know that you are up against Colin Baxter and you will have done your research. I for one (alas, not enough) would buy copies.
    All best wishes.
